What a PMS actually does

A property management system (or channel manager) exists to manage your rates, availability, and distribution across booking channels like Airbnb, Booking.com, and Vrbo — keeping your calendar in sync so you don’t get double-booked, and handling guest communication around the reservation itself.

What Best Guest actually does

Best Guest doesn’t touch any of that. It reads your confirmed reservations (via iCal or a direct integration), sends the guest an online check-in form, validates what they submit, and handles everything the Czech legal system requires afterward: reporting foreign guests to the police through UbyPort, maintaining the House Book and Registration Book, verifying the reservation is real, and calculating the local accommodation tax.

Why this separation makes sense

Compliance requirements change on their own schedule — a new UbyPort format, a municipality changing its tax rate, an updated retention rule — independently of anything your PMS vendor does. Keeping guest-compliance logic in a dedicated tool means it gets updated and maintained against Czech law specifically, without waiting on a general-purpose PMS roadmap that has to serve markets worldwide.

How the two fit together

You keep managing prices, availability, and channel distribution in whatever PMS or channel manager you already use. Best Guest sits alongside it, picking up guest registration and compliance the moment a reservation is confirmed — no double data entry, and no need to migrate anything.
