Rentals United is best known as a distribution channel manager, but it now also offers native Messaging Automation — so there are two ways to deliver your Best Guest registration link, plus iCal import.
- Automated messages — Rentals United Messaging Automation sends scheduled template messages, or you trigger registration from your connected PMS.
- iCal sync — Best Guest imports the reservations.

Before you start
- An active Rentals United account with connected listings
- A Best Guest account
- Your Best Guest registration link, e.g.

(Use your real link. ?channel=rentalsunited records the reservation origin.)
Using the right link: every listing — each apartment, room, tent, RV, or whatever counts as your smallest bookable unit — has its own unique registration link. If you manage more than one listing, double-check you’re copying the correct one. Find all your links in Best Guest under Properties → [property] → Listings → Copy listing link, or grab them during the Listings step of onboarding.
Path 1a — Rentals United Messaging Automation
Rentals United’s Guest Communication includes template messages scheduled across the guest journey (on booking, before arrival, during the stay, after checkout) with dynamic variables.
- Open Guest Communication → Messaging Automation.
- Create a template named “Best Guest Registration”.
- Schedule it before arrival (e.g. 2 days), insert the guest-name variable, and add your link.

Path 1b — Trigger from your PMS instead
If you run Rentals United purely for distribution into a PMS (Guesty, Hostaway, Lodgify, Cloudbeds…), configure the registration message in that PMS’s automation engine instead — it’s the system that owns guest communication in that setup. See all integrations for the per-PMS guide.
Whichever layer you choose, pick one primary messaging layer to avoid sending guests duplicate requests.
Recommended: a reminder one day after arrival
Best Guest automatically reminds the main guest if they started registration but haven’t finished it. If a guest never opens the form at all, though, that reminder can’t reach them — so it’s worth scheduling a second Messaging Automation template, timed 1 day after arrival instead of before it, using only the link:

Path 2 — iCal sync
To import reservations into Best Guest’s Reservation Verification, copy the property’s iCal / calendar export link (from Rentals United or your connected PMS) and paste it into Best Guest. Make sure guest email is being passed through the OTA → Rentals United → PMS chain if you rely on email delivery.
Recommended timeline
- Reservation confirmed → confirmation only
- 2–3 days before arrival → registration link
- Arrival day → access instructions
- 1 day after arrival → reminder for guests who haven’t completed registration
- Departure day → checkout message
Troubleshooting
No message received — confirm which layer owns messaging (Rentals United vs PMS) and that only one is active.
Missing guest email — fall back to OTA-inbox messaging or PMS notification rules.
Reservation missing in Best Guest — verify the URL and ?channel=rentalsunited.
